Tap to Pay is being rolled out gradually. If you don't see the Enable Tap To Pay option in Payment Readers, it hasn't been enabled for your TicketLeap account yet.
Tap to Pay lets you accept contactless cards and mobile wallets directly on your phone or tablet. No separate card reader is required. The buyer holds their card, phone, or watch against your device to complete the sale.
Tap to Pay works in the TicketLeap Sell Mobile App app on Android. It is not available in the desktop Box Office or in a mobile browser.
What you need before you start
- A connected Stripe account. Complete this first, or Tap to Pay will not appear in the app
- The TicketLeap Sell app, installed and updated to the current version
- A supported Android device with Near Field Communication (NFC) turned on
- A stable internet connection
Tap to Pay availability depends on the country of your Stripe account. If the option does not appear and your Stripe account is connected, your country may not be supported yet.
Refer to How do I set up a Stripe Connect account? if you have not connected Stripe.
Turning on Tap to Pay
- Log in to the TicketLeap Sell app
- Tap the gear icon
- Tap Payment Readers
- Under Change card reader, tap Enable Tap to Pay
- Follow the onscreen prompts to finish setup

Your device is now ready. Add tickets to an order and tap Complete Order. When prompted, ask the buyer to hold their card or phone against your device until the app confirms the payment.
Supported Devices
Tap to Pay has device requirements set by Google. A device that does not meet every requirement cannot connect.
Android
- Android 13 or later
- Built-in NFC
- A security update installed within the past 12 months
- Google Play Store and Google Mobile Services installed
- The manufacturer's original operating system, unmodified and not rooted
- Developer options turned off
Switching between Tap to Pay and a card reader
Turning on Tap to Pay disconnects any card reader currently paired with your device, including a Stripe M2.
To go back to a reader, go to Payment Readers and select Stripe M2 Reader via Bluetooth again. Each device uses one payment method at a time.
Moving Tap to Pay to another device
Each user can connect to Tap to Pay on one device at a time. To sell on several devices at once, give each staff member their own user login.
If you switch devices between sessions, disconnect Tap to Pay when you finish selling. This frees your login to connect on the next device.
- Tap the gear icon
- Tap Payment Readers
- Tap Disconnect to turn off Tap to Pay on this device
Choosing between Tap to Pay and the Stripe M2
Both accept payments through the TicketLeap Sell app. The difference is what the buyer can hand you.
- Tap to Pay accepts contactless cards and mobile wallets
- The Stripe M2 also accepts chip and swipe cards, which matters if your attendees carry older cards
M2 readers are available to sellers in the United States. Refer to Configuring the Stripe M2 Reader for setup steps.
Before your event
Test Tap to Pay on every device you plan to use at least three business days before your event date. Run one live transaction on each device and refund it. This confirms the device meets the requirements and that your staff know the flow.
